"The Eyes Have It" is one of the famous short story written by Ruskin Bond who has written over 500 short stories. Here in this short story narrator is the speaker . The setting of this story is the train compartment where the narrator present a brief encounter with girl who boarded the train from Rohana. Through the story reader can see the irony which is broken by the man who had entered the train compartment from saharanpur. Though the speaker and the girl both are blind but did not known to each other.

But when the speaker realized that the girl seemed to find nothing strange in the question and she said that " Why don't you look out of the window?" .
Then the speaker moved easily along the berth and felt for the window ledge. The window which was open and he faced that, making a pretend of studying the landscape but he heard the panting of the engine, the rumble of the wheels and in his mind' s eye, he could see telegraph posts flashing by.

In this short story the narrator had the train compartment to himself up to Rohana then a girl boarded the train from Rohana and then they started to interacted to each other , the narrator liked the sound of her voice and even the sound of her slippers when she entered the compartment. They started to talking to each other by asking this question
"Are you going all the way to Dehra? " I asked."
Then they mutually agreed with each other to visit Mussoorie especially in October. And a beautiful conversation they had.
And at last the girl said "Goodbye", sometimes after the girl left the train. Then the door banged and the world was shut out again. He returned to his berth.
The speaker think so as the narrator said that "We ' ll soon be at your station" , then the girl said that "Thank goodness it's a short journey. I can't bear to sit in a train for more than two - or - three hours". So the girl wanted to left the train as soon as possible, as she did not liked the long journey. And the speaker thought that the girl not liked him as He liked her. That is why the speaker thought that as soon as the girl left train, she would forget their brief encounter but ist would stayed with him for the rest of the journey, and for some time after.
